dessert and desert
Dessert是一种甜点，而the desert是又热又干的沙漠。
accept and except
accept意思是接受或是同意某事物，而except意思是排除。
there and their
前一个单词是地点副词而后者是物主代词。例如Their house is over there.
principle and principal
Principles是信条、价值观或是基本原则，而principal意思是学校的校长或是主要的事物。
advice and advise
前一个单词是个名词而后一个是动词，因此你可以advise someone by giving them good advice.
borrow and lend
To borrow意思是借贷某物，而to lend意思是借出某物。例如Can I borrow your car? Sorry, I can't lend it to you today.
despite and although
这些单词有相近的意思但是用法不同。Despite是介词而although是连词。例如 He won the race despite his injury. He won the race although he had an injury.
affect and effect
前一个单词是动词而后一个是名词，例如The effect of the war is enormous; it has affected all sectors of the economy.
personal and personnel
你的personal详细信息包括你的名字、年龄和国籍，而 personnel意思是公司的职员。
assure and ensure
To assure某人意思是打消他们的疑惑或使他们安心，而ensure意思是确保某事发生。例如I assured him that you would be there, so please ensure that you get to the meeting on time.
